USA Cycling and filmmaker announce collegiate cycling fundraiser

USA Cycling and filmmaker Scott Coady announced plans to raise $500,000 for collegiate cycling and the Davis Phinney Foundation by visiting 21 college campuses in 21 days across the entire United States in what is being billed as The Collegiate Tour, Baby!. Mimicking the format of the legendary Tour de France, each stop will be considered a andldquo;stageandrdquo; of the andldquo;Tourandrdquo;. Twenty Americans to compete in UCI Mountain Bike World Cup opener

Twenty Americans are slated to compete in the first round of the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series in Houffalize, Belgium this weekend. Nine men will represent the United States as part of a 245-rider elite menandrsquo;s field, while 11 of 128 riders in the elite womenandrsquo;s field will be Americans. USA Cycling opens women's European residence center in Italy

United States ranked number one in the world in men's BMX

The United States retained its overall number-one world ranking in menandrsquo;s BMX racing following the first event on the 2007 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup calendar according to the latest edition of the UCI rankings published Tuesday. Individually, Donny Robinson and Mike Day are ranked number one and two in the world respectively in the newest Olympic discipline of cycling. American women are ranked fifth overall and are led by Kim Hayashi, who is ranked 11th individually as the highest American woman.

The United States is ranked third in the world in both menandrsquo;s and womenandrsquo;s cross country mountain biking according to the latest edition of the UCI rankings published on Monday. In the menandrsquo;s rankings, the United States is ranked third with 535 points behind Australia (705) and Canada (571). In the womenandrsquo;s standings, the United States is ranked an extremely close third with 634 points behind Australia (640) and New Zealand (636). Individually, Todd Wells and Mary McConneloug are the top Americans in the men's and women's standings respectively.

Devine in Best Young Rider's Jersey at Tour de Georgia

USA Cycling National Development Team member John Devine took over the lead in the Best Young Rider classification at the Tour de Georgia on Tuesday. The 21-year-old Devine placed 18th in stage two andndash; a 217-kilometer trek from Thomaston to Rome andndash; to earn the Best Young Riderandrsquo;s jersey as the competitor with the lowest cumulative time under the age of 23. Devine finished just five seconds off the pace of Tuesday's winner for a cumulative time of 9:01:05 in the first two stages.

Ben King leads Junior National Team at Paris-Roubaix Juniors

Miller leads U.S. Women's National Team in Europe

The U.S. Women�s National Team continued its campaign in Northern Europe last week with several races in the Netherlands where first-time international competitor Brooke Miller led the squad. Miller scored a career highlight by winning the sprinter�s jersey at the Novilion Internationale Damesronde van Drenthe and also placed 14th in the third round of the UCI Women�s Road World Cup and eighth at the Drentse 8 van Dwingeloo. The women will continue their schedule with the Ronde van Gelderland on April 21 and La Fleche Wallone World Cup on April 25.
