Review: Cheetahs offer little resistance against the Reds
Date:
The Cheetahs had the spark but couldn't ignite as the Reds ran in 2 tries answered only by a Floors shove over. Ben Tune, in his last ever home game was amongst the scorers and punished the Cheetahs for some sloppy play by grabbing an intercept and dotting down under the poles to put the Reds 9 points clear. A lead they never lost.
PREVIEW: Stormers v Blues
Date:
The Stormers have taken on the Blues 10 times in SuperRugby history and have only a 30% win ratio against the powerhouse team from Auckland. The two teams are at differing ends of the SuperRugby spectrum with the Blues challenging for top spot while the Stormers sit slumped near the foot of the table.
Review: Brumbies sneak win
Date:
The Brumbies won a tense match against the Force in Canberra on Friday night, 14-12.With so much at stake both teams seemed to be feeling the pressure and their attacking play went out the window in a dogfight for victory.
PREVIEW: Lions v Bulls
Date:
The Bulls demolition of the Stormers in Pretoria last week was a sure indication of their semi-final intentions. It was also the perfect way to recover from the 17-9 loss to the Hurricanes in the game before.Their chances of forcing themselves into the semi's would be helped by the Sharks if they were to beat the Chiefs. Even if the Chiefs were to win, the Bulls may still be able to make up the small points scoring differential that sees the Chiefs lie ahead on them on the table.
Review: Crusaders win scrappy encounter
Date:
The Crusaders fought off a spirited challenge from the Hurricanes in Christchurch in the opening match of Round 12 on Friday. The match was a closely fought game that never really opened up as referee Paul Honiss punctuated the match with a plethora of petty calls.
PREVIEW: Reds v Cheetahs
Date:
The Reds and the Cheetahs meet in Brisbane in a fairly uninspiring match between two of the competition's bottom feeders. The Cheetahs have battled bravely in recent weeks, but have been devoid of attacking ideas and have relied on defence to keep them from being handed heavy beatings.
PREVIEW: Chiefs v Sharks
Date:
Last week against the Blues, the Sharks showed that they are true title contenders. Their robust approach, with a specific focus on defence, raised praise from many corners of the rugby world. Their only error was to allow the Blues a bonus point try at the death. Another four-try win in New Zealand would do their semi-final chances a world of good - particularly as they search for a Durban-based fixture.
Predictions: S14 - Round 12
Date:
Another bumper week last week pushed my predictions up to just under 63% (42 out of 67) over the first 11 Rounds of the Super 14.This week there are seven games and plenty tough ones to predict.
The Ross Skeate diaries
Date:
I guess the hoodoo of Loftus is still stalking us in the worst possible way. By no means have we had a good Super 14 as a squad, and by no means have we played to anywhere close to our potential, but going into this one we still felt like we were in with a good shout. Unfortunately it was to be the Bulls doing most of the shouting on the day.
Two changes for Bulls
Date:
Vodacom Bulls coach Heyneke Meyer on Wednesday announced a starting line-up with only changes for the crucial Super 14 derby against the Lions on Saturday at Eliispark in Johannesburg.
Up front suspended Danie Rossouw is replaced at flank by Pedrie Wannenburg. In the back line Jaco van der Westhuyzen makes way at right wing for Akona Ndungane.
